Custodial Staff

The cleanliness of our school is maintained by the hard work of our custodial staff. They work long hours and do many vital jobs to keep our school running. In return, they get little to no appreciation for their hard work. They are the glue that holds our school together, and they deserve to be appreciated.

During school hours, you can see our custodians hard at work.  For one, our custodial staff is always on top of cleaning the cafeteria. The space can get disgusting, but after both lunches, they work to make sure the area is clean. This amazing crew takes on many other jobs that are not so glamorous. They take out the trash, sanitize the bathrooms and clean the hallways. It is hard to imagine how our school would function without our custodians as they perform jobs that are important for keeping everything clean and organized.

SELFLESS SACRIFICE | Many mornings before school, the Student Association and Student Council work at their meetings to schedule school events like basket raffles and upcoming breadstick sales.

Not only do they perform important jobs during school hours, they also spend many hours working late into the night cleaning this enormous school. During the swim season, I was getting off of the bus late on a Friday night and noticed some lights were still on. It was our custodial staff, working close to 9 p.m. on a Friday night.

For all that they do, working long hours, emptying trash, cleaning bathrooms and mopping our hallways, it is high time we give our custodial staff the respect, gratitude and appreciation they deserve.

Student Government

Both the Student Council and Student Association are extremely under appreciated. Throughout the year, they put in hours of work to create an enjoyable experience at school for the entire student body, and they deserve a thank you.

It takes time and effort to set up activities at North. All members come to meetings early before school, and give up their lunches to sell breadsticks or work in the union to sell snacks and union cookies. The group also sets up large events, such as homecoming, tuning out the fine details like decorations and themes, as well as planning and setting up creative floats in order to create a parade for the entire community.

They are not recognized for their time spent making school more enjoyable and welcoming for everyone. This is a thank you. School would not be nearly as exciting without our Student Council and Student Association. Everything they do is to help the student body. Next time you attend a sale or buy a union cookie, make sure you give a big thank you to them and know that it is well deserved.
