Opening phase five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, “Captain America: Brave New World,” released on Feb. 14th, caters to longtime Marvel fans and superhero movie enthusiasts alike. Seeing it was an easy choice for me as someone who has always loved movies, especially the MCU. Watching Anthony Mackie, who was once in the shadows as Falcon, fully embrace his role as the new Captain America was something special, redefining what it means to be a hero today through their fearless actions.
The movie takes place in Washington, D.C., which added a personal touch for me, since I just visited 3 days prior. The plot kicks off when Sam Wilson is invited to the White House, but things take a wild turn when a coordinated assassin attack throws everything into chaos. Each fight scene feels packed with action and fresh, especially the shield sequences that are on another level. The graphics of this movie are money well spent, making every battle visually stunning. Specifically the scenes including the cherry blossoms added a unique beauty amid all the action. That being said, some sequences contain flashing lights, so if you are sensitive to that, be aware.
One of the best things about this movie is its pacing—it moves at a steady pace, which never felt too rushed or too slow. The action is powerful but balanced, giving the audience time to take in each twist. And trust me, there are plenty of shocking moments that will leave you on the edge of your seat. From unexpected betrayals to a major attempt to eliminate Captain America, the stakes feel incredibly high.
Of course, no Marvel movie is complete without some familiar elements. Seeing Bucky Barnes’ compassionate role again was a highlight, yet the introduction of Red Hulk brings a whole new level of intensity to the story. As always, fans should stick around after the end credits, which teases the return of Captain America. Overall, I highly recommend watching the movie in Dolby at AMC for an enhanced experience. The sound surrounds you with incredible clarity, and the visuals on screen are even more immersive, creating a deeper connection to the story. This is a must-watch for any Marvel fan, making this movie deserving of 5/5 stars.
