Senior night stalls due to COVID-19
November 9, 2021
Senior night is a tradition in school where a game is dedicated to honoring the seniors who participate in sports. The 2021-2022 varsity football team did not get to experience this tradition.
Darian Stevens, captain of the team, feels that senior night is something that many of the players have looked forward to during their football career at North. The cancelling of the game came from the opposition having a Covid outbreak.
“It is a little sad and disappointing, just because so many seniors work for this moment and it just got taken away from us,” Stevens said.
The senior night tradition has been used by many high school football teams for years. The game usually has players’ families in attendance, and the parents or legal guardians accompany the players onto the field during halftime.
“We just kind of feel left out because we did not get our special night to walk with our coaches and parents,” Stevens said.
The game gives the seniors a proper send off during a long season. It gives recognition to the players, commemorating their high school football career.
“It gives a good representation of the school. It just shows how hard the seniors work for the biggest moment,” Stevens said.
