Lacrosse player Clare Ramsdell said that after a year long hiatus from the sport she is excited to begin playing again. “I’m excited to finally get back on the field for lacrosse since we’ve had so much time off,” Ramsdell said. “It’ll definitely be difficult to get back in the swing of things, but I am just happy we are able to play.”

With the delays to the beginning of the spring sports season, many athletes are questioning how things will be moving forward.

According to the Michigan High School Athletic Association, spring sports will begin on March 22.

Prevention protocols, similar to that of winter sports, will be put in place for everyone’s safety during this transition. Along with MHSAA, administration will be mandating certain rules to ensure the safety and enjoyment of the season. Lacrosse coach Lauren Nixon is excited to start this new season, with safety procedures in place and all.

“There are several requirements with regards to the protocol,” Nixon said. “Some of them include (the rule that) athletes and coaches must wear their mask at all times during both practices and games and athletes must bring their own water bottle.”

For information regarding spring sports tryouts, Nixon recommends checking with the athletic office as well as keep an eye out for information coming soon. As per usual, students are required to have an updated athletic physical and a gold card on file  in order to be eligible for tryouts.

“Athletes can get updates about tryouts from me,” Nixon said. “I will be creating an informational handout/flyer for athletes to sign up for Remind and get alerts and updates regarding tryouts.”
