Boys track with Jaden Laster
Since the first meet on April 10 against Grosse Pointe South, senior captain Jaden Laster has been prepared to compete this season.
The team’s primary objective this season has been to stay healthy since they had multiple injuries last year.
“Unfortunately, last year our team had an ample amount of injuries so this year we’re doing our best to prevent them,” Laster said. “The team wants better success throughout our season and get more of the athletes to compete at regionals and states this year.”
Even though the team has support for each other, Laster asks for more support from the school for better recognition and support.
“With a team like ours, we need not only each other’s support but the school’s support,” Laster said. “We need more and better exposure from the school so we can have more students and staff come out to support us at our meets.”
Girls Lacrosse Ava DeCoste
As the lacrosse season unfolds senior captain Ava DeCoste’s vision is just to play and create a great atmosphere for her teammates. By having a positive attitude, she believes everyone will have more fun.
“We are trying to create an inclusive and fun environment for everyone,” DeCoste said. “Lacrosse is a growing sport and if we create this kind of environment more people will enjoy themselves and want to join.”
Being a great leader is something DeCoste is striving to do. She does this by having great communication and making sure nothing goes unnoticed.
“[By] just encouraging people, when they do something good, like pointing it out to them that what they did was a good idea,” DeCoste said.
