Girls varsity basketball with Eva Borowski
Kicking off the season with a record of 4-3, the girls varsity basketball team is overcoming the adversity that comes with having a team with a majority of younger players. However, they have the ability to continue being competitive despite the lack of upperclassmen, and the leadership within the team emphasizes their ability to succeed.
Stepping into the role of a team leader is junior captain Eva Borowski who works each practice and game to bring her team together so they can connect on the court.
“Before a game we just usually have a team talk, just going over what we’re going to expect from this game, and just sort of try to motivate each other,” Borowski said.
After losing five seniors from the previous season, the team still holds high expectations for themselves to thrive in the new season. Borowski believes that their motivation to perform will be the key to success in the rest of their season.
“I feel like my goal would just sort of be, just to keep improving,” Borowski said. “It’s not going to start off amazing, even though we’ve already been doing pretty well. But I think the most important thing is just to get better as the season goes on.”
Boys varsity wrestling with Teague O’Hara

The North varsity wrestling team recruitment and participation is at an all time high this year, with 25 wrestlers this season. With many new additions to the team, all the wrestlers have been working very hard to score high in their matches.
In his third season on North’s Varsity wrestling team, junior Teague O’Hara has seen the team change positively. He believes the team’s work ethic will help them succeed this season, and O’Hara has set personal goals this year to keep his team motivated.
“I would like to see all of my captains making it to states,” O’Hara said. “We all want to win.”
The new team members have started perfecting the smaller details in each match while simultaneously improving team camaraderie. O’Hara believes they have significant motivation to get better, and train hard every practice.
“Even the kids that just started this year are doing super good,” O’Hara said. “They are loving it, and work hard at practice to win their matches.”
