Pastaio is an Italian restaurant and wine bar located at 17043 Kercheval Avenue in Grosse Pointe. Having this restaurant about 15 minutes away from North is great because it won’t let you down with what it brings compared to other local Italian restaurants. They specialize in making all of their pasta fresh each day and we would advise scheduling a reservation one or two days in advance to not lose out on availability.
Our experience at Pastaio was excellent. The restaurant’s atmosphere was spectacular. The modern look is achieved through contemporary art, dazzling light fixtures and classy interior design. By 7 p.m. it was busy with a variety of younger and older crowds and many families. We ended up seeing many friends and adults that we knew and we had a good time at this popular restaurant. Pastaio has a wide variety of food choices consisting of entrees, small plates, salads, sides, soup and dessert options. Pastaio’s service was superb. Our waitress was wonderful, she was always on top of things, making our experience smooth so that we had a great dinner by refilling our drinks when needed, explaining the menu and describing the different options to help us choose between different foods.
We received our main course food in around 25 minutes. We ordered bucatini funghi, meatballs, chicken francese with a side of zucchini, and Caesar salad for our main course meal. The chicken was very juicy and expertly cooked. The zucchini that came with it had a crunch and was perfectly salted. Their meatballs are a must with a flavorful marinara sauce and for drinks we had a peach cobbler mocktail and strawberry mule mocktail. We finished it off with their fantastic triple chocolate fudge cake that really completed the dinner. The price came out to $99.86 before tip but was well worth it. Compared to other Italian restaurants in the area, we believe it is definitely worth a try if you are looking for something nice and special. We give Pastaio 5/5 stars.
