With the rise of social media and the influence of trends, it is very easy for makeup products to go viral. Recently on TikTok, users have been speaking out about their experiences with younger generations seeking out luxury brands such as Drunk Elephant, Rare Beauty, Summer Fridays, Dior and Glossier. This has resulted in questioning why certain products gain so much popularity, and why younger generations are immersed in these products.
Glossier Lash Slick Mascara ★★★★
Glossier’s Lash Slick Mascara happens to be one of the most popular mascaras I’ve seen. Mascara has always been a crucial step in my makeup routine and finding a good mascara can be challenging. This mascara claims to be smudge proof, water resistant and natural looking and I would say it meets all of those claims. I like that this mascara has a simple pink packaging and does not clump when applying it. However, I have tried many mascaras that give the same look as the Glossier Lash Slick for less than half the price with Glossier being priced at $20 resulting in me giving it 4/5 stars.
Benefit Hoola Bronzer ★★★
As someone who has tried multiple bronzers, I would say the Benefit Hoola Bronzer is decent and something I would probably reach for again in my everyday makeup routine. This bronzer is a powder bronzer that can easily be blended underneath your cheekbones and the edges of your face for a natural sun-kissed look. For the mini size of this bronzer being $19, I personally prefer something a little less costly, but I still think it’s a good, easy to use product. Overall the Benefit Hoola Bronzer is 3/5 stars.
Rare beauty blush in shade Happy ★★★★★
One item of Selena Gomez’s brand, Rare Beauty, that particularly blew up is her blush, priced at $23. I’ve tried multiple trending blushes by brands including Elf, Pixi, and Milani, but I have to say that the Rare beauty blush takes the cake on being the best. This blush is pigmented with only using a little dot on each cheek, it also comes in multiple different shades so every skin complexion has a different shade to choose from, encapsulated in a simple yet elegant packaging. Overall, I’d say this product is worth the hype and I give it 5/5 stars.
Summer Fridays lip balm in the shade “Cherry” ★★★★
I ordered a Summer Fridays lip balm off Sephora’s website in shade “cherry” to put it to the test and see if it’s worth the hype and the money. For starters, the price of this product is $24, so it is on the more expensive side for a lip product. The benefits of this lip balm are the nice scent it has, it stays glossy for over an hour, it comes in 8 shades and the packaging is basic and cute. I have quite a big collection of lip products and in my honest opinion, this lip balm is arguably the same quality as my lip products that are on the cheaper side. Some other negatives of this product would have to be the high price and the pigment not spreading evenly when you first apply it. Overall, I personally don’t think this product is worth the hype and I also feel like its high price doesn’t equate to the quality, therefore, I give this product 4/5 stars.
