Sims 4: Toddler Stuff Pack review
September 25, 2017
Although simmers saw the appearance of toddlers in Sims 4, the update was missing cute clothes and accessories for the new characters. The latest Sims pack, Sims 4 Toddler Stuff Pack, promised new options for the toddlers to express their personalities, burn off energy and make friends, yet it fell short of its expectations.
The new clothing for the toddlers isn’t as impressive as it could have been. The pack didn’t have as many specific boy, girl options in clothing or hair. EA added six new tops for girls and only three for the boys. EA also fell short with hairstyles. There are four new girl hairstyles and two new boy hairstyles, leaving Simmers wondering why there are more accessories tailored to girls than guys. EA also added unappealing, whimsical-looking outfits, like butterfly-winged tees and animal hoodies. These were unnecessary embellishments to the outfits and not practical for the toddlers to wear at all. The new options in Create-A-Sim don’t show off the toddlers’ personalities because there aren’t enough choices.
EA told players that the toddlers were going to have the capability to meet new friends at “the perfect play date in the park.” The thing they didn’t mention is that the player has to build this “perfect play date park.” EA gives simmers all the new outdoor activities, but when building them, the parks never look anything like EA had made to sell the pack. Some of the structures are also impractical for putting in the park. For example, the ball pit and play scape are huge and they take up so much room that the players will have a difficult time building a park for the play date. If EA had premade these parks, it would have made the player’s life much easier, and allowed for them to play with their own Sims, rather than focusing on where to host the play dates.
EA also added a whole new collection of playground objects for the park and backyards, but parents can’t interact with the toddlers unless the toddler’s imagination skill is on the second level. Paying $10 for Sims 4 Toddler Stuff Pack, it should have included more beds, toys and highchairs, rather than just playground equipment. EA did the bare minimum and didn’t give the Simmers any of the indoor objects for the toddlers that they were anticipating. The real name of this pack should have been “Outdoor Park Pack.”
Simmers may feel misguided when buying this pack because it just focuses on outdoor play date objects mostly. It wasn’t clear that there wouldn’t be indoor stuff for toddlers. If a Simmer doesn’t usually play with families, then there is no point in buying this. Even for players who enjoy having toddlers, this Sims 4 Toddler Stuff Pack is totally not worth the money.
