Formed in 2014 and consisting of brothers Clinton and Mitchel Cave along with their friend Christian Anthony, Chase Atlantic has been a staple in the alternative-pop genre since the release of their song “Friends” in 2015. Since then, they have gathered a devoted fan base of over 16 million monthly listeners. On Nov. 1, they released their brand-new album “LOST IN HEAVEN” amidst their tour in North America where they play a blend of their old and new songs to satisfy every fan.
The tickets for the North American tour were announced on Aug. 20 and the tour started in October and ends in mid-November. We purchased our tickets shortly after they were released for Nov. 6 at the Fillmore Detroit. Regarding the seating and ticket options, the main sections were the upper balcony, lower balcony and floor. When we purchased our tickets we chose the upper balcony which was a little less than $50, the lower balcony was around $60 and the floor was around $200 depending on if you were in VIP. Considering the size of the venue, these prices were very reasonable and no matter where you were seated, you get a great view and experience due to the arrangement of the venue. No seats were blocked by what was happening on stage.
The great seating was accompanied by an exciting atmosphere all around the venue, the bright sign out front illuminated the street beautifully and Comerica Park being visible right across the street added a sense of happiness before you even entered the Fillmore. The beauty continued on the inside of the venue with the stunning marble staircases near the entrance to the seating areas along with stunningly intricate designs painted on the ceilings in both the seating and entrance areas. Even though the set pieces for the concert did not have the same style as the venue, the Fillmore is classy enough that nothing will clash with it.
The setlist of this tour consists of 20 songs from many of their old albums and the newly released ones. Based on the crowd at our show, we believe the songs that had the best and loudest reactions were “Friends,” “Heaven and Back” and “Swim.” These songs had a very fun stage presence along with almost a nostalgic feeling since these songs were towards the beginning of their career, with “Friends” coming from their 2015 EP “Nostalgia.” Since our show was only five days after the release of the new album, not many people knew the lyrics of the new songs. One of the new songs they played was “Night Calls.” Which was guitarist and backup singer Christians’s first song made independently which is why we feel so lucky to have seen it live. We believe that the fans enjoyed this new addition since it was unexpected and hearing it for the first time in concert felt like experiencing something brand new.
For the extremely reasonable price we paid for the tickets, we went in expecting your average concert performance, with a few songs and some casual banter in the middle. But we ended up getting so much more than that. The immersion into the show began before you even entered the venue, the graphics displayed on the sign outside immediately got us even more excited for the show, containing bright purple lights mixed with imagery from multiple Chase Atlantic albums. Everywhere you looked on the inside of the venue had something to do with the show, and the actual show was something we never could have imagined.
For each song, the graphics displayed behind the band changed to fit the theme, and the lights surrounding the stage and seating areas kept on theme by changing to different vibrant colors to fit the song or the album being played. Along with the unforgettable performance, the other aspects of the show were equally as flawless, all the merch lines were organized very well and the merch was fairly priced too with a very high-quality shirt being less than $50. The staff were extremely helpful if you had a question about anything and you never had to hunt one down, they were all perfectly placed around the venue which made everything so much easier throughout this perfect night. Overall, we would rate it five out of five stars.
