Swim & Dive with Senior Alyssa Dall
As this year’s swim and dive season comes to an close in the next couple of weeks, senior Alyssa Dall said this was her best season yet.
“Last meet at MAC’s championship, I got all my best times,” Dall said. “On the 100 fly I got a 1:12 and on the 50 free I went 28 seconds.”
Not only did she improve, but the team overall did as well. Dall said they got a better score at the MAC meet this year than last year.
“We did really well,” Dall said. “ Last year we got fifth, and this year we got third and a lot of people got state cuts.”
For her last season on the swim team, Dall set goals and accomplished more than she planned.
“My goal was to meet new friends, get closer with my team, have a good last season and break my 50 free time,” Dall said. “This last season has been the best.”
Girls ice hockey with Sophomore Ruth Fradeneck
Even though it’s only her second year on the girls varsity ice hockey team, sophomore Ruth Fradeneck is looking forward to the upcoming season.
“We only have like two real defense men,” Fradeneck said. “But we’re trying to train other people for defense, since we lost all of them because they graduated last year.”
She hopes to become closer with the team and practice on working together throughout the season.
“I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s hockey skills grow,” Fradeneck said. “I also want us to grow closer as a team.”
Tryouts went well for Fradeneck and she has also set some personal goals to work on this season.
“My goals are to improve my shot and hopefully become a better skater,” Fradeneck said. “I think I did pretty well at tryouts, there wasn’t a lot of people so the coach focused on individuals, so I think I did well.”
Girls varsity basketball with Junior Rachel Sexton
As the girls varsity basketball team begins practice this week, Junior Rachel Sexton is confident the team is going to do well this upcoming season.
“The team is going to do a lot better than we did last year,” Sexton said. “Mainly because we’re going to try and play together more as a team instead of focusing on ourselves individually.”
Sexton hopes the team will work together more this year.
“Most of us have been playing with each other for a while, and we’ve grown so much together,” Sexton said. “I have a great team where everyone is willing to work hard for each other.”
With this being Sexton’s third year on the varsity team, she has set new goals she wishes to accomplish.
“I’d like to increase my stats overall,” Sexton said. “I want to make a lot more assists and gather more rebounds. Also, I would definitely like to become a quicker and better defender.”
