1. President Obama travels to Cuba
President Obama and his family arrived in Cuba today, making it the first time a U.S. President has traveled there since 1928. His first stop was Havana to meet with staff at the newly opened U.S. embassy. This trip is part of President Obama’s 2014 plan to reopen diplomatic ties with Cuba. Read more about it here.
2. Paris bombing suspect arrested, preparing for future attacks
Salah Abdeslam, the prime suspect in the Paris attacks that left 130 dead in November, was captured on Friday. Abdeslam was arrested during a raid in Brussels, Belgium. Abdeslam was preparing for more attacks in Belgium when he was arrested. Read more on BBC’s website.
3. Suicide bomber is part of Islamic State
Four foreign tourists were killed in a suicide bombing in Turkey on Saturday. This is the sixth major bombing in eight months in the popular shopping district. At least 24 people were injured in the Islamic State’s attack, according to Turkey officials. Read more about it here.
4. Man charged with assault at Trump rally
Tony Pettway is being charged with assault for punching and kicking an anti-Trump protester on Saturday. The protester was being escorted out by Tucson police when Pettway punched and kicked him. Pettway was then placed in handcuffs and removed from the rally. Read more and watch a recording of the incident here.
5. Game of Thrones actress reveals pregnancy news
Carice Van Houten, who plays Melisandre on Game of Thrones, announced her pregnancy in a comical fashion, according to the Huffington Post. Previously in the series, Houten’s character gave birth to a demon baby. So when the news broke that her and husband Guy Pearce were expecting, she tweeted, “OK. I’m ready for your shadowbaby jokes.” Fans had positive reactions to the tweet. For more information, click here.
