1. Terrorist attack in Grand Bassam

L’Etoile du Sud hotel on Africa’s Ivory Coast was the location of an attack on March 13. It was supervised by Al-Qaeda and left 16 dead, but the shooters have been neutralized. L’Etoile du Sud is in Grand Bassam which is a popular tourist attraction in Africa. Read more about the attack here.

2. Sanders, Trump snag Michigan victories

In the Michigan primary, Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Bernie Sanders won their parties. Trump’s 11.6 percent lead afforded him 25 delegates, while Ted Cruz and John Kasich won 17 and Marco Rubio received zero. Bernie Sanders clinched a tight victory receiving 49.8 percent of votes and 67 delegates. Hillary Clinton won 60 delegates and 48.3 percent of the popular vote. 3. Matilda the Musical hits Detroit

In the first ever U.S. tour, Matilda the Musical will be making a stop at Fisher Theatre this week. Matilda’s cast features three rotating Matildas and is directed by Matthew Warchus. Tickets can be purchased from www.ticketmaster.com for $35-130.

4. Evening conferences commence

Parent-teacher conferences will take place this Tuesday and Wednesday, March 15-16. Parents will have an opportunity to discuss their child’s performance with individual meetings. Conferences run from 5-8 p.m. in the gym. More information is available on North’s homepage.

5. Paris praises Barbie

A tribute to Barbie is coinciding with Paris Fashion Week in the heart of France through March 18. The Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris is hosting an exhibition boasting over 700 Barbie dolls in honor of the brand’s 57th birthday. For more information, check out the International Business Times.
