Choir program hosts movie night fundraiser
February 9, 2017
To raise money for the choir program, students have been attending a series of movie nights put on by the choir class. The money goes towards the choir’s uniforms and events, such as the upcoming spring concert.
All students are welcome to watch movies for free during these movie nights, only paying for snacks at the concessions that the choir class offers. The choir offers popcorn and candy, along with breadsticks if they are available, for about a dollar each.
Freshman Clare Loch is a member of the choir and feels that these events are a good way to boost the program’s funds.
“You get to meet a lot of new people that you really haven’t talked to and it is a good way to get to know the people who aren’t really in the choir program,” Loch said. “It really is a lot of fun. I would recommend going to one.”
“Addams Family Values”, the sequel of “The Addams Family”, which was played at a previous movie night, is next in line to show after the musical is over.
Sophomore Jillian Fooks feels that the movie night provides a unique way of fundraising.
“I think it is really smart because it’s kids who are in the program and friends of the kids in choir who are supporting it, so it makes sense, and it’s in a fun way,” Fooks said.
Along with many of her fellow classmates, Fooks found the fundraiser to be unlike most people’s expectations. She and Loch both highly recommend attending the upcoming movie night.
“Some people may think that the movie night is just a bunch of choir kids who just sit around and sing the whole time watching musical movies. But they are actually really chill and fun, and you can bring friends, which is always pretty great,” Fooks said. “I like that it’s not like an exclusive event. It truly is a lot of fun. It’s sort of just like a fun little hang out.”
