Girls cross country finishes season after Metro Beach race

The girls cross country team finished the last meet of the season in a bittersweet style.

With some of the top runners falling ill, the team wasn’t able to qualify for states.

Held at Metro Beach, sophomores Michaela Cosgrove, Julia Mclellan, Katie Louwers, juniors Sarah Mihalik, Kate Wozniak, Lauren Sickmiller and seniors Erinne Lubienski and Megan Louwers ran in the varsity race. The team is coached by Scott Cooper, Julie Morehouse, Emily Theis, Elizabeth Michaels and Jaime Hainer.

Overall, North placed fourth behind Troy, Seaholm and South High Schools. Even though they didn’t qualify for states, junior runner Chloe Redeye still thought the team had a good race.

“I think overall we did really well,” Redeye said. “Even though we didn’t get the result that we wanted to, we ended up doing really well.”

Here is a full list of North’s runners and their times. The varsity team is the top seven runners.
