- Attack on ISIS: In alignment with Syria, the US announced a new series of offensive attacks on ISIS. The alliance, called the Syrian Democratic Forces, will target the terrorist group using tactics such as coalition air strikes and land offensives with the goal of seizing areas of Hasakah from ISIS. - World Indigenous Games: On Nov. 1, the first ever World Indigenous Games held its closing ceremony. Hosted in Palmas, Brazil, the games are a nine-day cultural event with over 2,000 participants representing 23 countries. To find out more about the games, read this article from The Independent.
- Ransom Gillis home: HGTV’s Rehab Addict star Nicole Curtis recently completed renovations on the Ransom Gillis home. The 139-year-old house is located in Brush Gardens in Detroit. Nicole Curtis offered a tour on Nov. 1 and the house will be up for sale soon. See a slideshow of pictures here.
- Fred Thompson dies: At the age of 73, Fred Thompson passed away due to a recurring lymphoma. The former senator, actor and presidential candidate was known for his recurring role on Law & Order and died in Nashville, Tennessee. - Ex-prisoner rehabilitation: President Barack Obama plans to roll out small initiatives to help ex-convicts find jobs. This event is piggybacking off of a recent decision to release 6,000 federal prisoners earlier than their respective release dates. Read more about this in the New York Times article here.
