1. Bill Cosby charged

with sexual assault

Despite sexual assault accusations occurring since the 1960s, actor Bill Cosby has never been charged for the crimes until now. An incident that happened in 2004 finally shined light on the situation. On Wednesday, Cosby was charged by the Montgomery County prosecutors in Pennsylvania for sexual assault and bail is set to $1 million. Click here for more information.

 

2. Flooding in Missouri

Recent flooding from the Mississippi River has been affecting the residents of parts of Missouri and Illinois, forcing them to seek shelter. Governor Jay Nixon says that they have never seen water this high before, causing 18 deaths so far. Near St. Louis, police sent out mandatory evacuations to keep the residents out of harm’s way. 3. Knicks player shot

Basketball player Cleanthony Early of the New York Nicks was shot early Wednesday morning in the knee cap. An armed group attacked the man, stealing his jewelry, including the caps off of his teeth and assaulting him. He was in an Uber cab after leaving a Queens strip club when three vehicles stopped them and blocked them in. For more information click here.

 

4. Two arrested in Turkey

On Wednesday Dec. 30, Turkish police arrested two Islamic State militants for what was suspected to be the planning of a suicide attack. When arrested, the police seized a suicide vest armed with a bomb and an explosive device. Luckily, no one was harmed and whatever they were planning was unsuccessful. 5. Storm Frank arrives

Storm Frank brought downpours and forceful winds to North England and an opportunity for more looms above the heads of the citizens of Cumbria county. Parts of England, Ireland and Scotland were issued amber warnings and Wales and other parts of Ireland were also under alert. Read the full story here.
