Despite a challenging season that ended 0-6 in the MAC Red, the team finished sixth out of 18 teams in their regional tournament. While that wasn’t enough to make the state tournament, sophomore Meghan Gallagher was able to qualify as an individual.

“Hard work and understanding what they needed to do to improve was really important,” coach Pete Kingsley said.

This was Kingsley’s first year coaching the girls.

“As a coach, I want to direct them in a way that they can improve. In practice, we prepare for the actual competition so we’re ready to roll.”

Junior Sam Karwowicz said the team had a successful season but could have improved more if the they would have been more focused throughout the season.

“We just need to be more organized with our practices and what we’re doing as a team and then just guiding the freshmen more and teaching them stuff,” Karwowicz said.

Kingsley also said there is much that the team can improve on in the off season.

“As a first-year coach, the first thing you do is observe and see what you have. You have a game plan in mind, but you have to establish the game plan and get everyone more competitive and used to being in the heat of the competition. In golf, once you get out, there no subs, so if you’re having a bad day, you have to learn how to get yourself back into it as best you can,” Kingsley said. “We need more summer activities because we’re getting ready for a fall sport, so we have to be ready to roll once we get into the season.”
