  1. Wisconsin recount initiated, Clinton affiliates plan to participate

Marc Elias, Hillary for President’s general counsel, disclosed Saturday that there will be a recount in the state of Wisconsin, initiated by Green Party candidate Jill Stein. Elias stated that the Clinton campaign received “hundreds of messages, emails, and calls” convincing them to investigate the election results. Although the Clinton campaign didn’t call for the recount, Elias says the team plans to be involved. Stein also wants a recount in Pennsylvania and Michigan, and is still raising the funds necessary to do so. To read more about the recount, click here.

  1. Fatal shooting takes place in New Orleans’ French Quarter over holiday weekend

Early Sunday morning, eight men and two women were shot during the Bayou Classic Weekend in New Orleans. One man is confirmed dead. The area on Bourbon Street where the shooting happened is popular with tourists. Police say that it was especially crowded because of Thanksgiving. To learn more, head here.

  1. Democratic Party is looking at 2020 presidential candidate options

Many Democrats, who assumed Hillary Clinton would win, didn’t make plans for the 2020 race. But now Donald Trump is president-elect, and there is no Democratic favorite for the 2020 race. Many politicians have come forward to state that they don’t plan on running for president in 2020.   1. ‘Hamilton’ actor refuses to apologize for speech

On Nov. 18, Brandon Victor Dixon, who plays Aaron Burr in the Broadway musical “Hamilton,” delivered a speech to Vice President-elect Mike Pence, who was in the audience that night, explaining the fear that many people have regarding the President-elect’s opinions on minorities. This speech sparked outrage from Donald Trump and his supporters. However, Dixon stated he doesn’t have anything to apologize for. To see Dixon’s interview on CBS, go here.

  1. Indie shops to come to Detroit for holiday season

Holiday House is a collection of local independent retailers, and is paying downtown Detroit a visit over the holidays. More than 10 stores will be a part of that collection, with items ranging from home decor to recipes to clothes. The collection will be housed at 1001 Woodward Ave. on Wednesdays-Sundays.
