#BooBash98.7 was the cncert hashtag used to share photos and videos with 98.7 radio station throughout the night.
Electronic dance music artist Diplo made his second appearance in Detroit on Halloween night. He was last at the Mad Decent Block Party this past August. Boo Bash is an event which 98.7 AMP radio hosts every Halloween. The event is full of EDM music, dancing and people dressing up in all kinds of different costumes. The concert included performances by Headliners Diplo and Dillon Francis as the main apparences and Ayokay, Quinn XCII and DJ Ryan Richards.
Doors opened at 6:30 p.m. at the Fillmore in downtown Detroit. The cold night didn’t stop the adrenaline pumping through my veins as I waited in line to enter the venue.
There are no words to describe the feeling I get every time I walk into a concert, waiting to get my ticket checked and then walking to the open stage.
The venue was filled with spooky vibes. There were spider webs hanging from the ceilings with a gigantic spider on it, which I wasn’t very fond of considering my arachnophobia.
As I entered the main floor, I could feel the butterflies in my stomach. The countdown was finally over. I had made it to Boo Bash. Looking around and seeing all the different costumes was incredible. As the night wore on, the balcony filled with fairies and vampires. At first, there weren’t many people there, which came as an advantage to my friends and me, as we ended up walking right up to the front of the stage.
It felt like years before the main performers came on. The DJs before them would play decent remixes of popular songs that ignited the crowd’s dance moves. It wasn’t until Diplo came on that the bash really felt like a bash.
“Everyone, give it up for Diplo!”
It went crazy. The atmosphere was electric. The lasers and lights beamed every color of the rainbow, and the music was beyond amplified. It reminded me of the last rave I attended—Flume.
The comparison between the two is pretty stark. Flume had a vibe that was more chill. He also had a larger crowd and venue.
I felt a little disappointed with the number of people that showed up to this show. The more people in attendance and the larger the venue, the more breathtaking the concert.
As much as I enjoyed the night, the ticket price wasn’t worth it in the end. I made the mistake of them without searching for cheaper ones and ended up paying more than I had to. That was a really big downside to the overall experience.
The cherry on top of the night was Dillon Francis’s performance. He blew the crowd away with each song he played. From the the visuals on the big screen on stage to the fog machines, the night ended the best way it possibly could have.
