Biggie over Tupac. Talking over texting. Pre-Kardashian-Kanye. Post-haircut-Miley. I'll take a book over a party and cake over a salad. You'll find my DVD shelf packed to the brim with Golden Girls, Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles, every Hayao Miyazaki movie ever made and seasons 1 through 19 of The Simpsons. Beyonce is the sun of my heliocentric universe.

My kindergarten teacher was one of the first people to notice my love for storytelling. She broke me out of my quiet shell and then tamed my love of talking and channeled it into a love of writing. Since the day she died, every word I write is for her.

Since then, I've had several of my poems published, won first place in public speaking competitions three times in a row, been interviewed for Model D Media, and I was even on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. I’m well on my way to fulfil my dream of being a talk show host (watch out Oprah).

This year is my first and, unfortunately, my last year on the North Pointe staff. I’ll be graduating in 2014, but it won’t be the last you'll hear of me.

I’m just a cartoon loving, Taco Bell adoring, joke telling ball of me. Nothing less, but a whole bunch more.
