J-Views blends versatile tunes

One of the best parts of watching any good documentary or television show is the soundtrack. Whether a song lays over swooping visuals of a snow-capped mountain or an illuminated cityscape at night, there is something about being fully entranced by the effect that instrumental music provides listeners with.

Brooklyn-based producer J.Views’ (Jonathan Dagan) new album, 401 Days, takes these mesmerizing moments and compiles them into a soundtrack-of-sorts that also serves as an integral part of Dagan’s DNA Project.

Fitting the self-described genre of “Breezy Futurebeats,” 401 Days blends two extremes into a versatile collection of spacey tunes that still maintain danceability.

Copious amounts of echoing effects, reverb, wispy-and-sometimes-cheeky vocals and weeping chimes blend to create a sound that can transform any situation into a slow-motion scene fit for an indie coming-of-age movie.

Noteworthy tracks are “Into the Light,” featuring alternative rock band Wild Club and “I Follow,” a track that sounds like something off of M83’s newest album Junk.

Visit jviewz.com for an interactive timeline of Dagan’s album completion and to explore the “DNA” of the album with The DNA Project. The DNA Project is an experiment launched by Dagan to engage fans and fellow musicians in the album-making process. Fans will be able to see the creation of songs on an interactive timeline and be able to witness the progression of a song. Dagan is working with digital agency Hello Monday towards “redefining the way music is created in the digital space,” as described on the official project website.

401 Days is on Spotify, available for download, and for purchase on vinyl and CD.
