The survivors from Helix season one come back to investigate a new pathogen on an island where a mysterious cult has lived for the past 500 years. The cast is led by Dr. Alan Farragut (Billy Campbell), Brother Michael (Steven Weber), Dr. Julia Walker (Kyra Zagorsky) and Dr. Sarah Jordan (Jordan Hayes).

The show is centered around a deadly biological agent on an isolated island called Saint Germain. The CDC team from season one is assigned to the island to try to isolate the disease. They run into two main conflicts.  The first being the island’s residents, who  are part of a cult ruled by an immortal madman with silver eyes. The second problem is how the cast will discover the path of this pathogen, and find out how to eradicate it.

Helix takes a whole new twist on the classic zombie virus with two different sets of characters working both in the past and the future trying to uncover the secrets of the cult and the disease spread by the pathogen. As viewers watch someone from the past accomplish something, they may see in the next few minutes someone in the future make a mistake that destroys that accomplishment. This can make the show both frustrating and exciting as they never know what can happen next.

The way the creators did the past and future deviations originally made it difficult to figure out what was happening in the first few episodes, as it would jump from Day 3 to Day 1,306.  However, as the episodes progressed, the shifts between past and future became more distinct and easier to understand.

Helix is unique and unlike any other deadly virus show. It sets itself apart with immortal, silver-eyed people who seek to use the disease to rule the world and humans, a shift between both past and future and unexpected surprises in each episode.
