Between 11 hours of dance a week, assistant teaching 10 hours per week, school, clubs and other extra curriculars, junior Katie Sauget has a lot on her plate.

She said her favorite part of dance are all of the opportunities she’s been able to experience and the people she has met throughout the years.

“I started dancing at The Turning Pointe when I was 3 years old. I danced at The Turning Pointe for five years, until I decided to take a break from dance and try piano lessons and gymnastics,” Sauget said. “I shortly quit piano lessons and gymnastics after two years and started dancing at Mary Ellen Studio of Dance. I danced there for five years, with being on the competition team for three years. After the five years of dancing at Mary Ellen Studio of Dance, I made a hard decision to switch to a brand new studio called Kercheval Dance, where I’ve been dancing on the competition team and assisting for three years now.”

Sauget plans to continue her dance education in the future, but is unsure whether it will be a hobby or as a potential career. Sauget said she enjoys sharing her experience with young and aspiring dancers because she remembers how much she looked up to her teachers and assistants when she was a young dancer.

“My favorite part about assisting is witnessing students’ faces when they are able to accomplish something that they’ve been working on.”
