Select students received invitations on Oct 16 to the Close Up Foundation’s Washington D.C. trip that the school partakes in. The trip will last six days, starting on February 25th, 2018.

The overall tour includes a variety of stops at historical landmarks and governmental buildings, including Capitol Hill.

Social studies teacher and school Close Up club adviser Barry Mulso said that the program has provided life-changing opportunities for some students, alongside its educational focus.

“First of all, it’s learning about how government works, how the American system works, using Washington D.C. as a classroom,” he said. “And the interaction with students from other schools, and the way things are set up, the way the program is run by the Close Up organization, is just super conducive to exploration and finding out about you know, really how things really work.”

Students that plan on accepting the invitation they received, must do so by Oct 20.

“If I could, I’d take every student that I could be possibly take, it’s that good of a program,” Mulso said.
